Regular maintenance is key to extending the life of your VELUX® windows. A planned service helps prevent costly repairs, keeps windows operating smoothly and maintains their energy efficiency.
What a service visit covers
- Cleaning of the glazing, frame and ventilation filter
- Lubrication of hinges, locks and other moving parts
- Checking weather seals and gaskets for damage or wear
- Inspecting the flashing and the roof around each window
- Testing opening, closing and sealing – including electric and solar operation
- A clear report of anything that needs repair, with a quote before any further work
How often should roof windows be serviced?
We recommend a professional inspection of VELUX windows:
- Every 2–3 years for residential installations
- Annually for commercial properties
- After severe weather
- Whenever you notice an operational issue
Servicing for schools and commercial buildings
For buildings with many roof windows – schools, offices and managed properties – a planned servicing programme spreads cost, reduces emergency call-outs and gives you a record of the condition of every window. We are VELUX® Pro Partner Ambassadors, FENSA approved, Constructionline Gold and CHAS Elite, which helps with supplier approval and procurement. See commercial & schools for servicing and replacement contracts.
Between services
Clean glass with a soft, lint-free cloth and a mild soap solution, avoid abrasive cleaners, and clean the ventilation filter regularly. Our VELUX maintenance guide has more tips. If you find a fault, our repair service can help.
Frequently asked questions
Do you offer servicing contracts?
Yes. We can set up planned servicing for multi-window homes and for schools, offices and other commercial buildings. Tell us how many windows you have and where, and we will put together a proposal.
Can you service electric and solar windows?
Yes. We check and test electric and solar-powered operation as part of a service, along with seals, hinges, flashing and glazing.
