Nine VELUX roof windows replaced in Harrogate, HG1

Nine old, failed VELUX roof windows replaced with triple-glazed natural pine VELUX GGL windows, EDW Pro flashings and Duo blinds. The house, in the HG1 area of Harrogate, has a pitched concrete-tiled roof with roof windows lighting a pine-lined loft bedroom and a bathroom.

The problem: heat escaping through old, failed windows

The customer was losing a lot of heat through the existing roof windows. The windows were old and had failed, and heat was escaping through them from the loft bedroom and bathroom below.

What we did

Our fitters took out the old windows and fitted new VELUX GGL centre-pivot roof windows in natural pine, which suits the pine-lined rooms inside.

• 6 × VELUX GGL SK06 3066 – 114 × 118 cm
• 3 × VELUX GGL CK04 3066 – 55 × 98 cm

Every window was fitted with a grey VELUX EDW Pro flashing kit, made for profiled tiles up to 120 mm, to give a weathertight seal into the concrete tiles. Each one also has a VELUX Duo blind, which combines a blackout blind and a pleated blind in a single product.

The result

The house now has nine new triple-glazed roof windows in place of the old, failed units, which were the cause of the heat loss. The natural pine frames match the existing pine linings in the bedroom and bathroom, and the Duo blinds give the customer the choice of full blackout or softer, filtered light in each room.
