Genuine VELUX® blinds are made to fit specific VELUX window sizes, so they fit neatly in the frame and run smoothly. We supply and fit blinds on their own, or as part of a new window or replacement.
Types of VELUX blind
- Blackout blinds – for bedrooms, nurseries and rooms with screens. Available as manual (DKL), electric (DML) or solar-powered (DSL)
- Roller blinds (RFL) – soften and diffuse daylight and add privacy
- Pleated blinds (FHL) – a decorative, light-filtering finish
- Venetian blinds (PAL) – adjustable slats, ideal for bathrooms and kitchens
- Awning blinds (MHL, MML, MSL) – fitted outside the glass to block heat before it enters the room
Manual, electric or solar
Blinds can be operated by hand, by electric motor or by a solar-powered motor that needs no wiring. Solar blinds are a popular upgrade for high or hard-to-reach windows, and work well alongside solar-powered VELUX windows.
Example project: in Knutsford we fitted VELUX DSL CK02 1025 solar-powered blackout blinds to two new VELUX GGU windows, alongside KSX 100K solar upgrade kits. Read the case study.
Finding the right size
The VELUX code is usually on the identification plate at the top of the sash. It tells us the window size and model, so we can order the correct blind. If you can’t find it, we will measure on site.
Blinds for schools and offices
Blackout and glare-control blinds help with screens and whiteboards in classrooms, meeting rooms and offices, and awning blinds can help reduce summer overheating under roof glazing. We can include blinds in a commercial or schools project.
