Frequently Asked Questions About VELUX Sun Tunnel Installation in Slough
What is the difference between rigid and flexible sun tunnels in Slough?
Rigid sun tunnels give the brightest light where the roof dome is almost directly above the ceiling. Flexible tunnels in Slough are used when the route around roof timbers is not straight.
Do sun tunnels work on cloudy days in Slough?
Sun tunnels in Slough still provide useful light on overcast days, although output is highest in direct sun. They work well in the conditions typical of the area.
Which rooms can have a sun tunnel in Slough?
Sun tunnels are ideal for hallways, bathrooms, kitchens and utility rooms in Slough. Any room with roof access above can benefit from one.
Can a sun tunnel be installed in most roof types in Slough?
Yes, we can install sun tunnels in most roof types in Slough, including those with modern commercial parks. We survey the roof and loft space first to choose the best tunnel type and route.
Local Slough Considerations for Sun Tunnel Installation
For the modern commercial parks typical of Slough properties, a VELUX sun tunnel can add natural light without major building work. We plan the route using Slough Railway Station, M4 motorway where access allows.
What happens during a sun tunnel installation in Slough?
A sun tunnel installation in Slough is planned around the modern commercial parks found in the property and the conditions it will be exposed to. We choose rigid or flexible tubing accordingly.
- The ceiling diffuser is installed in the room below and sealed neatly.
- The work area is cleaned and the system is checked before we leave.
- We choose rigid or flexible tubing based on the straightness of the route and the light level needed.
- A small roof dome is fitted on the roof and a reflective tube is routed to the ceiling.
Sun tunnel installation know-how for Slough
In Slough, the choice between rigid and flexible sun tunnels depends on the distance and direction between the roof dome and the ceiling diffuser.
- Flexible tunnels are used when the route around roof timbers is not straight.
- Longer tunnel runs and multiple bends reduce light output, so we design the shortest practical route.
- We finish the ceiling diffuser and roof dome neatly to match the room and roof covering.
- Solar-powered and electric diffusers are available for hard-to-reach rooms.
