Frequently Asked Questions About VELUX Sun Tunnel Installation in Northwich
Do sun tunnels need planning permission in Northwich?
VELUX sun tunnels in Northwich usually fall within permitted development and do not need planning permission. We can advise if your property is listed or in a conservation area near the local area.
How much light does a sun tunnel add in Northwich?
A sun tunnel in Northwich can add a surprising amount of natural light to a dark room. The exact amount depends on the tunnel length, diameter and roof orientation.
Can a sun tunnel be installed in most roof types in Northwich?
Yes, we can install sun tunnels in most roof types in Northwich, including those with mixed housing. We survey the roof and loft space first to choose the best tunnel type and route.
What is the difference between rigid and flexible sun tunnels in Northwich?
Rigid sun tunnels give the brightest light where the roof dome is almost directly above the ceiling. Flexible tunnels in Northwich are used when the route around roof timbers is not straight.
Local Northwich Considerations for Sun Tunnel Installation
We fit rigid and flexible VELUX sun tunnels across Northwich and the Cheshire area. The right choice depends on the roof pitch, loft space and the distance to the ceiling diffuser.
What happens during a sun tunnel installation in Northwich?
For Northwich homes, we survey the roof covering, rafter positions and ceiling before fitting the roof dome, reflective tube and ceiling diffuser.
- We check the roof covering, rafter positions and ceiling location to plan the route.
- We choose rigid or flexible tubing based on the straightness of the route and the light level needed.
- A small roof dome is fitted on the roof and a reflective tube is routed to the ceiling.
Sun tunnel installation know-how for Northwich
In Northwich, the choice between rigid and flexible sun tunnels depends on the distance and direction between the roof dome and the ceiling diffuser.
- Rigid sun tunnels are the most efficient option when the roof dome is almost directly above the ceiling.
- Solar-powered and electric diffusers are available for hard-to-reach rooms.
- We finish the ceiling diffuser and roof dome neatly to match the room and roof covering.
- Flexible tunnels are used when the route around roof timbers is not straight.
